Request for Donation - have you had one?

I have received an e-mail requesting a voluntary donation for this site due to server problem. I'm unsure as to how valid this is as there was a mention of costs to Phil in $ rather than £.

Am I being a bit pessimistic or have other members had the e-mail too?

I also recieved one, which seemed strange as I had recently made a donation :confused:
 
me too .......sent a tenner last week via paypal. got a 'thank you ' from phil with his mugshot ! so i assume it was genuine :)

I am sure it is O.K. I had one and did a donation and got a reply from Phil (Mr Admin) more or less straight away also I think he has Emailed everyone including those people that have donated this year:D. He probably has not got a filter on his emailer to take the already 'donators' out of the system. I think one or two people have already posted thing's about donations in the last month after the site went down for a while. and he Phil (Mr Adimn) had to pay for back up assistance...So I am sure the email is legit

Me too, I sent a donation, then got a thanks from Phil, also got the request soon after.
As you say, its probobly(that doesnt look right, never mind), an auto thing Phil sends out.
I would ask everyone that posts/reads regular, to give a donation, we dont want to loose this brilliant site and Phil does an excellent job, even if we very rarely hear from him.

I sent a donation last week through the forum direct, must admit I did not get a thank you (Not bothered) but I know it went through.

Could well be that it went to our Johns Cross email and not to my personal email which I use for this forum.

Be interesting to see if I get a reply from Phil on my personal email when I responded to his 'bulk' email.

Hello All,

I sent the email to all of our members, so I am sorry if you had already donated.

Everyone who was logged in when they donated should get a thank you private message.

The server costs are in Dollars as the server lives in the USA at the moment.

I would like to give a big thank you to al those who have donated, it really does help to pay the fees that this site generates.
