Replacement LED bulbs

We're thinking of replacing the halogen bulbs in our Hymer 630 Starline with LED bulbs. There is a choice between more expensive UK sourced bulbs, or much cheaper ones from China. Has anyone tried the foreign sourced bulbs, either sucessfully or with problems? The photos of the foreign bulbs look as if they may have thicker prongs, so may not fit?

Advice gratefully received.

For what it's worth I bought some LED lights from Ebay, 12 of them.

I got the highest lumens I could in warm white. (the LED's are SMD, surface mount devices) the ones that look like loads of LED's aren't so bright.

The ones to fit my light fitting were flat disks about the size of a 50p with 2 wire prongs to the side.

I had no problem fitting them.

They've been there for about 12 months without fail.

NB, there's a device called a rectifier to permit the LED's to work from 12v AC (as they can replace lights in cupboards at home where there is a 12v AC transformer. Most of the LED fittings came with a bridge rectifier built in, so it didn't matter which was round the 12v DC polarity is. A couple only had a single rectifier, so if the light doesn't come on, reverse the power to the back of the light fitting (with it switched off!!)

Buy a couple and try them out before you commit yourself.

Hi. Ive got mine off ebay too. They came from Hong Kong. No problems with them and they use less battery power.:)

I got some cheap ones first time and they all failed. Got some new ones from ATEN and had no problems. Last job was replacing the strip lights so now completely LED. and smug of course.

Replaced my reversing Bulbs too, much brighter & less heat for those long backing up times as many of you know the reversing Standard bulbs are high wattage and give off a lot of heat as i found out a while ago they burnt through my lenses on a long reverse, so now low heat & brighter LED,
