How do you remove a light bulb. I looked at it closely. There is a plastic ring within the light bulb holder which is preventing me from gripping the bulb to remove it. HELP!!!!

What sort of bulb ? Headlights ? Or bulbs of the interior ?
Don't panic, we'll solve the problem

Yes more details would be appreciated :D

Some bulbs you have to push down and twist, others unscrew, others pull out, others you have to unscrew the fitting to replace the bulb. But in the latter case it's only a couple of small screws.

Interior, I have 9 of them which I wish to replace for LED. The bulb unit can swivel left or right. The bulbs are set within the shade. There is a plastic ring inserted to keep the bulb in place (I think) No screws. I will look again. I can't tell what kind of bulb until I get them out.

Hi David & Ann,
it sounds like you have the very same type that we have in our MH, and have just recently replaced all our bulbs for led's.
If the "shade" part twists, then twist some more and the thing will come off, then the bulb is accessable.
If in the bathroom, you have the thinish, two pin halogen bulbs, then you can remove the inner liner from the shade part to replace them with led's.
Hope this helps.

Happy Camping:)
Bill.

Thanks folks for all your advice. The bulb unit is clipped on into the bulb holder. Had to pry it out gently and the unit comes away hanging on the wires. I removed the bulb and it is printed on the back, 30 degrees, 12v 10w. The bulb has 2 tiny pins. It is halogen. Question is, what wattage will I need for a LED. I would like it a bit brighter. Appreciate your advice. Thanks.

if you go to hasan&company celebrated lights at the end of 18th of june road in panajim you'll get them cheaper:eek::D

p.s.are aggie's and tito's still on benaulim beach:cool:

Hi David,
I have changed those 2-pin 20 W halogens for the same size 2 pin LED's; only 1,3 W . Only the light is blueisher (but they are now also available in softer white). But what a gain in energy

How many wildcampers does it take to change a light bulb?

I have counted 7 so far:p

Hi OLD AURTHUR, What are you doing back in Blighty. To date it is mostly Brits, Germans (by the plain load) and worst of all the bloody Russians. They have really taken over the beach huts. Anyway, Benaulim is a long way to Panjim. A local bus from Benaulim to Margoa, then another bus to Panjim. I am back in Goa on the 2 Jan: 2010 until 3 April 2010.
Have a wildcamping badge stuck to your chest.

Hi David & Ann,
you can buy 15, 18 and 21 led bulbs in soft white or white light, I have used the white light 18's in the living area and soft white 15's in the bathroom.
They are a lot better light than halogen bulbs, and use a lot less power.

Happy Camping:)

Old Type Bayonet bulbs

Another question gentlemen

Can you replace the old style 5w 10w 21w bayonet tail light bulbs with LED lights.

My hymer is 1992 vintage and has this type of bulb throughout.

If so can you suggest a supplier. All I have seen are replacements for Halogen lights

Hi Maingate,
When you get someone as dumb as me, I am surprised and proud of myself having figured it out after 7 advisers. You will get a shock as to the advisors I might need when I have a slightly larger problem.

Hi David&Ann,

I am pleased that you started this thread because I intend fitting LED`s:)

My Burstner hand book tells me how to remove the lights but I am still learning which LED`s are best for certain positions.I do not want a harsh white light everywhere but the odd spotlight might benefit for reading purposes.

BTW we have not been to Goa but thought Sri Lanka was a magic place.

Enjoy your hols.:D

When you get to my age, I find it a head banger with all the new technology. Some of us have got it and some of us have not. I HAVE NOT. I had to smile at your donation about needing 7 members to advice me on a light bulb. Keep 'em coming.
Re: Sri Lanka, great place, been there about 4 times over the last 15 years.
