it will not have escaped those of you who travel to southern europe and have satellite TV that signal strength gradually decreases
personally I have only a small dish and accept the fact that when I get close to the pyrenees astra 2D will be out of reach , and as this contains virtually every channel that I watch , that's that ...in my mountain lair in southern france I use the domestic set up
today I was making some adjustments to my TV set up [ I have invested in the new metronic 12v digital terrestrial box with external remote sensor cable ] , and turned on the system ; whilst setting the loop through my bush HD freesat box [ works while on standby but not while not powered ] I happened to channel swop and found to my surprise that whereas the bbc1 and 2 [ london] channels don't work , when I came across regional variants from the north I got reception
so I can only surmise that the bbc give a bit more oomph to the more distant [ from the equator ] regional transmissions ...and that in future my freesat box is going to have a N.I postcode inserted in order to extend my reception when I go south [ to me the s. of france is up north :juggle:
has anyone more precise knowledge of this situation ?
I suspect that ITV might swop regional variations to a 2D type narrow beam when capacity becomes available later in the year , so this could happen with them as well
