picked up a starcraft on a 1977 Mk4 cortina 33 years old taxed & mot only thing it was water damaged in back had to gut the van completly what with recovering from illness and lack of funds i decided to use recycled stuff to do the job (thank god for builders skips) i got all the wire and plugs insolation and timber from a renovation skip, the wall boarding came as large off cuts 8ftx3ft damaged from builders merchents skip ( he even give me a box of screws)
the sink was the one that was in when i got it all i need now is a cooker 2ring & grill.
although basic it should be fine surprising what you can find if you look around, im off to carpet wharehouse skip to get carpets might be lucky and find some wall covering.
regards andy:)

sound like your doing a great job .did you say it is a diesel then you will be able to run her on veg oil one thing about the starcrafts its grp at the rear a dam site easier to cure any leaks than ally pannels joined together

Always fancied building a Starcraft, when they started up got all the info but never followed it through. We were going to make one using a ford Cortina.

If you need odd bits of wood try asking at some of the smaller joinery firms, I got loads of decent sized pieces of plywood from one of them.

I've not heard of the Starcraft before, so I Googled it. Is this similar to what you are rebuilding?

Most were Cortina bassed

I wonder what the donner car is on this pic.?
Most of them were built on Mk.4/5 Cortinas i belive
Personally
i like the look of them
A very knowledgeable guy by the name of John Wickersham built one and it was a VERY nice van.
Johns story of his conversion can be found in,Haynes book"The Motorcaravan Manual",its very interesting.
A lot of the Starcraft had thirsty petrol engines fitted in them,i like the idea of a diesel conversion however the Pug engines were a bit "lazy" the latter Ford 1800 turbo engines were good. cheers and happy camping

i do belive some towards the end of the cortinas some were built on the sierra chassis can you imagine one on a cossie or 4x4 base
