3x bottles of Macallan Red whisky just sold for £200,000 at Scottish Whisky Auctions.

Buyer may be up for a quick profit. 👍😏

i once shared a bottle of whisky that a friend had won on a raffle 25 yr old triple casked glenmorangie , his wife was away jan & i took him & another friend out for a meal went back for a nightcap it was so good we finished the bottle angels on the tongue etc, next morning went to look online top bid at time £530 ! , so reluctantly left that next time i saw a bottle it was in the glenmorangie distillery museum

I just get the cheap shite but hey, it's free and it gives you the Glen Cambels! 😀

The cheap stuff is what put me off Ral.

When I was a teenager I got completely shrew faced drinking 'Eric's Whisky' (if you know the joke?) I was sick for 3 days and never touched a drop since until Wully came along. 😊

Maybe its an investment, perhaps they will go up in value. Unless you drink them of course.

I once helped demolish a £600 bottle of Brandy in a posh restaurant. Complete waste of money, just someone with more money than sense showing off. It was nice but not £600 nice. Someone sent me a £60 bottle of Malt from some place in the Lake District of all places in the Pandemic for helping them out. It was disgusting. I generally just drink what I call necking whisky. Blended cheap stuff.

I like a vintage Port every now and again. I went into the bar at our Marina once (New Years Eve lunchtime) and the landlord said "I've got a lovely bottle of Port you would like Rob, but it's very expensive".

He got the bottle out and bought me a shot it was pure nectar! We woofed it down and I ordered us both another - 11 quid a go for each shot and this was about 20 years ago! But I thought Hey Ho in for a penny and we did the bottle.

It was Wares vintage Port and I now have a bottle at home (amongst others) sitting waiting for a special occasion.

I have a Birthday coming up if anyone on here is struggling with what to get me. I was born in 1966

As a present Barry, it wouldn't even reach the wrapping stage! 😊

I have a limited edition Glenfiddich in a Spode porcelain bottle that my missus bought me years ago (30 plus I reckon).
Didn't much care for it then, and don't even drink nowadays! No idea if it's worth anything, but my daughter will probably neck it after I pop my clogs 😉☺️

Whisky goes up in value between 8%—20% year on year but that's only the collectors whisky.. However, a 1930's bottle of Bells would fetch a good price because of it's rarity value - there ain't too many lying around!
I have a fair few collectors whisky and a fair few collectors Ports, Cognacs and Rums. Not got much space in the house now so will have to make a large well insulated cupboard in the garage soon.
Better than money in the bank by a country mile IMHO.

Many buy wines and after years turn them around, bigger and better than bank rates, art and classic bikes are the same, who would have ever thought a £20 Tiger cub mountain bike will sell today for 5/7 grand, lucky i have one. :)

I often get stuck into a 1930 Bells. By 2030 its usually half gone though.
