I have a noisy front wheel bearing on my Ducato X250.

Has anyone used a garage in the south of France that they would recommend?

The only one i have used is the main dealer Peugeot garage ( they also repair Fiats ) in Cahors for exactly the same problem.

I decided to get both fronts done seeing as they have done the same mileage ( 61,000 miles ) i also got new front brake pads as they were the original ones.

It`s not a quick job and we left it with them for the day and it was ready at about 3pm from 08.30am. All in it cost 1,300 euros o_O

i was recovered on the french border when my clutch went to a fiat dealer in manresa spain great service stayed in compound & very good price

Before i went ahead with the work i had done at Cahors i rang a couple of local garages and the Peugeot main dealer back here in Preston for some quotes.

Bloomin - eck ................................................................................ or words to that effect i said o_O 🤬 o_O 🤬

The local garages were quoting £1,500 + and the Peugeot main dealer was the thick end of £2,000.

If i remember right with the exchange rate at the time it worked out at approx £1,100 so quite a saving and i wouldn`t have the worry of a bad hub bearing getting noisier and noisier as i drove, it`s just under 900 miles back home and the weather was hot, very hot.

The noise started on the 4th day of a 6 week break and only 1 week after it passed its MOT with flying colours

Good lord!! I am sure when Ive had a wheel bearing replaced on the Kontiki (1996 Peugeot Boxer) its only ever been about a hundred quid. I had a bit of bother with one in the Pyrenees in 2017 and the garage was quoting €800. I thought that was outrageous so I just left it until I got home.

Sorry that I can't help you with the garage in France but I have just had the wheel bearing replaced on my Fiat and the price for the kit was £37.48.

Was that for a Ducato X250?
