Hoping to explore coastal areas around Saunton this weekend. Looking for areas with some interesting short walks and photograpic opportunities. Would appreciate any suggestions.

I prefer seashore ,rivers, estuaries for the birds, geology ,boats, and other wildlife but also enjoy woodland and coastal footpath walks.

Hi,
The Hunters inn about 15 miles away = EX31 4PX is an excellent base for the area. The meals are good & reasonable.

Park about a 100 yds up the road opposite the NT cottages.

thanks Dezi we'll probably have to use a local site with EHU as the van is not ready for free camping yet.
Any suggestions as to where to go in the area ?

Lobb Fields about 2 miles at the most from Saunton. It used to be affordable and then suddenly jumped in price - just hope you're not thinking of "high season" :( LOBB FIELDS

Cherry Tree Farm in Croyde is a bit more affordable and there are nice views from there LINKY

The walk along the path that runs from Croyde around to Saunton is very good for bird life - Dartford Warblers etc

Here is one for you

Hi, I have a CL on the outskirts of Ilfracombe on the Woolacombe road so close to your requirements. EX348NY (£7 per night), feel free to phone 07812385915 if you just turn up phone to obtain the combination for the padlock.

thanks for the suggestions guys . Its places to walk and visit that I'm really looking for but the site suggestions are welcome thank you.

I think we will definitely do the Croyde Saunton walk thanks for that. I'm hoping to find an estuary somewhere that is accessable as I love walking along rivers . There is always plenty of interesting things to take pictures of.

Lobb Fields looks pretty good although the tarrif doesn't mention ehu which we will definitely need
Cherry tree farm definitely has no electric and looks pretty basic but its certainly cheap enough and is ideal for a compromise between wild and full premiere .

Thanks for the offer Wildman but we are going to need full facilities this trip and I mean caberet etc lol

Thanks for the Doone valley suggestion Shaun but our last trip was inland on Exmoor and we are keen to make this a coastal experience but we have saved all the links to our bookmarks thanks
