Rear Seatbelts in Coachbuilt vans

We have a coach built motorhome with 2 x 3 point forward facing rear seat belts and 2 x rear facing lap belts. We have a child who requires a child seat so we thought this would be ideal but its not. The 3 point belt are not suitable for a car seat so he has to travel in the front passenger seat at the moment which may cause problems when we are in france, plus i would like to sit up front.

The problem is the bit you plug the belt into is on a long strap which makes it unstable when used with a child seat even when I'm in the rear this part is almost on my stomach. Having looked at other vans this weekend most appear to be the same.

What do you do?? He is too small for a booster seat so still needs a car seat belting in.

Help and advice please

can you not find a shorter strap with the buckle on or a adjustable strap with the clip on

Unfortunately this child already has 5 car seats none of them the prince but I will look into that one.

Leaving him home alone is an option but he's not trained to use the cooker yet to feed himself

Any ideas of companies that can alter seat belts?

we have a 4 year old grandson that sometimes come with us in our trafic van/camper, only front seats so we got a seat from morrisons for £15-00, we have seen the same seat in a large chain of stores for over £60-00, the 3 way belt fits all the points in the new seat and he is very secure in the front. be aware that you can only put a child in the front seats if you dont have any in the back, if you do you then have to secure them in the back. this seat will work with 3 point in the back but not sure of lapbelt.

Doing a quick search, Halfords sell static (non roll up type) seatbelts for £18. The plug in end looks to be adjustable. Perhaps yours could be replaced with this strap.
