Re Upholstery question ? Who do you recommend?

Hiya

After much deliberation we have decided to keep our Autotrail Arapaho 2001 as we have looked at many newer versions but for the sake of spending another 20-25 K we really aren't going to get any better ......... just newer looking. Having read some horror stories of new M/H's, our M/H has had my 'seeing-to' and bits that weren't right are now, new tyres fitted etc etc ........ you get my drift I am sure!

So, as the M/H is fine, we have decided to have the upholstery re done so this is where you lot come in so to speak !!!!!

I am sure many of you have had this carried out but as I am certain it won't be cheap, we want to choose the best for the money outlay.

Could you advise us on who you highly recommend, I have had 2 names I have picked up of the forum : A1 & Regal Furnishings.

Appreciate your feedback and if possible, an idea of how much was paid for the work?

Thanks all ;)

Mark

Hi Mark,
We had ours done last year, and used a company called 'Reluxe'. They also seem to go under the name of 'Premier Furnishings' They are at Ilkeston, Derbyshire. I can highly reccommend them, and I know several others in our 'owner's club' that are equally as satisfied. There is a guy called Gerge Belton who we dealt with..he knows his stuff!!
We took ours up for a 'measure up and estimate' . We only had the labour to pay for, as the manufacturer supplied the fabric because there had been a problem with the original.
For the 2 'captains chairs', a double seat, which they re designed somewhat, to improve it, and a couple of panels, and cushions, we paid £600...and worth every penny.. Of course, the cost of the fabric will depend on quality..but speak to George about that.
Hope this helps a bit,
Jackie ;)

P.S. If you are interested, I will gladly give you their contact details

Thanks for the reply Jackie.

I have been given the name 'Premier Furnishings' from another forum however, they did say whilst they came recommended Premier did not get back to them despite the person having given all sizes etc. In the end they went to A1 who they said were excellent.

My problem is time. With Regal and I believe A1, you can turn up first thing then leave the same day ....... all done! This is what we are after and don't mind spending a wee bit more to have this carried out. I do not want to leave our M/H overnight / during the week as most places mentioned will be at least a 2 - 3 hr drive away from Hereford so it would be up/down/up then back down .... if you can understand where I am coming from !!!!

Hi,
Had ours done at Regal Furnishings this time last year (new covers/curtains/foam/side panels covered/new cushions) £1,700 stopped overnight the night before.Barry the owner showed us round all the operations to the refit then took us into the town and dropped us off for the day.
We returned at 4.30 and it was nearly finished and was completed by 5.30.

My wife always insists that any new covers are removable and machine washable. Thought I would add that into the pot :)

Premier also did ours 'same day', and lent us a car to go into the town while they did the work. I've no doubt that there isn't a lot to choose between them. They are all professionals in their field, and they all do work for the u.k. manufacturers.
So all in all...you pays your money, and takes your choice. ;)

There is a company listed in caravan magazines called Tockfield Upholstery based in Derbyshire. I believe that if you use them they will allow you to stay overnight at a site they have on / by their premises. I don't know what sort of prices they charge as we have not used them but there is probably someone on here who has and may be able to help you. Hope this is of use to you.

hi mark ,regal furnishing they are the boys. do it now stop thinking about it may go up in price if you wait. cheers alan.

Hiya Polly
I wont kill you but i am not an upholsterer never have been,i did ours myself cause needs must ,it needed doing and we did'nt have the money to pay a professional,so it would'nt be fair to say i could do it you dont mind the odd mistake if its your own (not that there is any). But i am not bothered that you said me i am still your friend Ha! Ha!.
Ali.

There's a company in Bristol that all the boat & motorhome magazines use and recommend... just can't think of their name for now! (Sorry)
