Hello
This may be of interest to Rapido and other Gelcoat bodied van owners
After 2 years and 25,000 the bodywork on my Rapido was looking dull, had some tree branch scratches, and some grey stripes under a couple of windows. I got some black stripe remover which appeared to work but they always reappeared within a few days.
I decided to give it a good polish. I was reluctant to use ordinary car products as you have to be careful what you use on gelcoat finishes. I even rang the Rapido main dealer where I bought the van and they was non committal.
After some online research I decided to go for Maguiars 46 boat and RV polish and Maguiars 56 boat and RV pure wax.
Its now about 6 weeks since I did it and I'm delighted with the results. As with all polishes this one is mildly abrasive but it took out all the marks including the light scratches on a couple of windows (tree branch). Getting out all the marks was hard work and time consuming but applying the wax afterwards is not too bad. I could not source the products locally but you can get them from Maguiars website.Postage was only £3 and it was delivered next day.
Like I said I'm delighted with the results. Apart from a couple of stone chips on the bonnet my van looks brand new again and no signs yet of the dreaded black stripes and I am fairly confident that these products will not harm the gelcoat finish
