Rip shakey

so sorry to hear of your loss, he looks a cracking little dog. try and take some consolation from knowing that his last years were good ones. x

So sorry for you, I know what it's like. I'm sorry I never met your lovely dog, he looked beautiful in his photo and he must have been a darling friend. Someone once said that the reason the lives of dogs were so short was so that we could get to love lots of them. I suppose this is true but it's so hard to part with them.

I totally understand the hurt, part of your life, bringing enjoyment and frustration on occasion if Leon is anything to go by.

But as you say you gave him quality life in his autumnal years.

I lost my holly a gsd 28 th December 2010 and I still miss her, irrespective of how she drove me daft.

Leon my latest charge I have become attached too, and drives me daft albeit not a malicious bone in his body that rubbertramp and kimbowbill will testify...

I have read several threads here where people, can't grasp the joy a dog can bring and I think they ultimately are the ones losing out.

Food water walk, .....not a lot more they want...well except in Leons case sharing my spot at bedtime..

I truly know the hurt and sense of loss you are feeling.

Channa

Hugs. I was in bits for ages when my first dog went but it was his time, and I knew I'd been lucky to have had so many years with him, and to be with him at the end. Having Rigg helped get me through it, I don't know what I'd have done without him. People were very kind and understanding to me when I got upset at losing the old fella, I was so surprised because I'd thought that people would think me daft or soft for grieving for a dog. But for singletons, our dogs fill a gap and give us the companionship and affection that we perhaps wouldn't have otherwise.

Thinking of you, I hope the next couple of weeks aren't too difficult, I remember a quote something along the lines of "Don't cry because it's over, but smile because it happened."

I feel for you John. Our dalmatian Sam went a couple of weeks ago. He gave us a dozen years of fun and never complained about his ailments towards the end.
He was our sbut then if you are used to having a dog life seems empty without one, and the transparency and honesty they offer, and want so little in return..

econd 'long term' dog
Channaand we promised never to go through the heartbreak again.

Yes, you vow never to go through the heartache again...but the void left in your life, the feeling of emptiness iyou relent.

A dog requires very little, and yet gives so much enjoyment in return .

Truly man's best friend

So sorry to hear the loss of your beautiful dog, we really feel for you.

So very sorry to hear about your dog, kellyjohn.

I had cats for 20 years and always thought of myself as more of a cat person, but having spent some time this year with Rigg-The-Pig, I realise just how much just how much like people dogs are, and how important they are as members of the family.

Anyway, I hope time will be a healer and perhaps you will be able to to get another canine companion sometime :)
