Pub to Avoid

Hows this for a miserable excuse for a landlord. I rang the Three Moles in Selham, West Sussex a couple of weeks ago and asked if stopping overnight in the car park was a goer providing we had dinner and drinks in the pub. Got told no problem, look forward to seeing you etc. Turned up last night as planned and the miserable git of a landlord moved us on telling us that his member of staff should never had said yes in the first place. My pleading that it was 7:30 pm and where was I supposed to go had no effect so we moved off. Spent a while driving round West Sussex, not in the best of moods as you can imagine, and ended up at The Stag Inn, Petworth. Smashing little pub, lovely food and friendly staff who were happy to let us stay provided we moved off before the Sunday lunch customers arrived.

Here lies a lesson, always make sure you speak to the landlord, and good advise from MTM, the pub must be doing well to turn trade away, so i guess a 20 van meet is out of the question then

Sorry to hear of your problem but maybe the mistake you made was to phone ahead. We just turn up and when it comes to a choice between getting our custom and turning us away they always opt for the former!

I think they did phone in advance John but obviously not spoke to the landlord,

Incredible that they can turn away business like that, as you say... one to avoid. I hope others will do so too and patronise the more welcoming pubs. I wonder how much experience the landlord has in the game.

Pity, that one's not too far from us, so I'll make sure we don't grace their door again... if we ever did that is! :D We've made a mental note when we venture out for meals to check all the pubs for MH friendliness from now on... never hurts to ask eh? If we find some good ones in West Sussex, we'll let you know.

Thanks for the info.

I've added this to the POIs :)
