As anybody subscribed to the list of pub sites that are being sold in motor home publications and nearly all the mmm shows and if so does he seem legit,or am I being to sceptical.:D

Pub sites

Not used these myself, but a friend of mine has been to several. It seems a bit open to interpretation by the landlord. Some pubs make a small charge (£5 or less) if you choose not to use the offered food menu in the pub, some make a small charge and dont bother about using the pub and some no charge, but its kind of expected you will at least have a pint. Most require your own sanitation, but one visited had access all night to a loo. His opinion is its a good idea. The ones he has visited are in the North West, no other details sorry. Not my own idea of a break, but sounded interesting. Hope this helps.:)

It is a list of fellow publicans that will allow you to stay over if you buy from them (drinks or meals), that he has compiled and is selling.

This is a bit like the Practical Motorhome Night Stop listing but these sites are certificated by the Motor Caravanners Club.

The Pub list ones are not certificated. It is the landlord of the pub (not the list seller) that is taking the risk of action by the local planners for using the site as a caravan site without a licence or an exemption certificate if there is more than one van on site or that he has allowed the site to be used for more than 28 days in a 12 month period.

Most decent pubs would allow you to do this with a quiet word with the landlord anyway.

I certainly wouldn't pay for a pub list. The way things are financially at the moment most landlords would take your right arm off if you offered to have a meal and a few pints.

Secondly, with so many pubs closing down and changing hands, the landlord who was on the list last month has now gone and the new landlord is not so keen on the idea.

If it is time to stop, and you see a nice country pub selling food with a suitable carpark, pop in and ask nicely. 9 times out of 10 they are glad of the company/money :D

Pub stopovers

I joined the Motorhome Stopover club last summer. For £30 I had a list of pubs with both the space and the willingness to let vans stay. I've since used it at least 7 times and will rejoin. It's been great for breaking up long jouneys and getting away with mates for a night or 2. Other pubs WILL let you stay but it can take hours to find one with the space. With this it's done for you.
