Hi....

Bought a new propane 6kg bottle good friday afternoon...and it was empty by easter sunday at 7pm...!!! Cant make out why it went so quick...(having been campers for many years in caravans etc...) had heating on all day and all night on a medium setting and the fire is thermostatically controlled...have we used too much gas??? OR did we buy a dud bottle of gas??? not really sure how long one gas bottle lasts anyway....never experienced this problem before...can anyone help...cheers...:):) (we have a 10 year old bessacarr E645)

Two full days and nights' worth of heating, hot water, fridge and cooking/water boiling seems pretty fair from a 6kg bottle to me.
This is the same size I use and I wouldn't expect any more than that tbh

I use 19kg propanes for work and we pretty much check for leaks monthly.

You can buy "stuff" to test joints, etc but the cheapest is a little washing up liquid in a little water, dropped over the joints, looking out for any signs of bubbles.

sounds like a lot of gas to use in 2 days to me check for leaks and if non buy a filler adaptor and fill you own we just filler our 6kg at morrisons and it cost me £6.37 thats works out £10.60 cheaper than calor for same gas so work that out they charge a lot of money to fill a bottle with lpg dont they the filler cost my £18 so 2 fills and im in profit and i have filler 2 bottles already this month mine and my dads so the filler adaptor is free from now on good hey

Hi, we took a newly bought caravan to our place of storage in Wales early march, had a full 19k bottle it lasted 5 days/nights heating was never off. Also when we are on the road in our Highwayman in summer months we were using a 7k bottle of gas a week, just fridge & cooking, so I made room in the gas locker for a 13k/15k bottle, there's about £2.00 difference between 7k & a 13k/15k calor...Jack

Last time we had heating on 24 hours a day was in February and we did get through a 6kg bottle in about 2 days.

When we got our van last June one bottle lasted us until November, although we was only out at weekends and not every weekend.
