Hi all

I recently updated my old 85 fiat Glendale to a newer 95 swift kon-tiki.
As with all older Motor homes you have a few teething problems when you first use them.

My problem has only just happened we had a lovely weekend away with the family and everything worked like it should.

But yesterday I tried to turn the internal lights on, they flashed and then nothing, I checked the battery level indicator, it shows full with both the rear and the front battery, and soon as I try the lights they flash then the battery indicators falls to no charge?

The internal roof fan and water pump works as it should but not the 12volt sockets and the lights.

Has anyone come across this problem before? Or know what the problem might be.

Many thanks Dave

Check your fuses first.

The fact that some items run indicates the battery is OK.

Probably find fuses all over the place, My Kontiki (2001) does, some even hidden away from sight. For example, behind the Voltmeter/ switch panel, there is one hidden there!!

The fact that the lights come on momentarily indicates that perhaps someting is charging up over a period of time.

For example, when I plugged my GPS into the lighter socket it wouldn't charge if the GPS was switched on, switched off it would slowly charge.

Checked the voltage and it showed 12+ volts, it was only when it was loaded with an appliance did I notice the voltage drop. It was a faulty earth to the socket, but it had sufficient leakage to show 12v.

But as I said, start with the fuses!

I had a similar problem, where everything worked ok till I turned the ignition, then all cut out, I found it to be a loose connection on the battery terminal, when there was too much current it would break the circuit, hope this helps.

Cheer Pete and Dylins

All sorted, it was a loose connection on the leisure battery.

many thanks
looking forward to a weekend in croyd next week
Dave
