Me too Hilly,so I just left it for a while, did a bit gardening, came back and it was on:rolleyes:.. I think Admin's been changing Databases,,,whatever that means:eek::)

Any way ,your back online now:cool:

I had problems yesterday! I've also found it very slow to respond to changes of topics/pages over the last few days.

I thought it was ME!

I have had exactly the same probs yesterday & today. Then all of a sudden its back!! :D:D As I get past this, first of my unread posts, the next one will, no doubt, explain why!!!:eek:
Jim

Looks like we all are getting the same probs:confused:

yes i think that admin has had problems with the datacentre thingy
but, no doubt he'll get it fixed
I thought that all my thanks, quote buttons etc. had dissappeared too,
till I realised that I wasn't signed in!

Some more info. here for you CLICKY
Knowing how Unix programmers like their little jokes I was interested to note that we are on an Apache server - It should read "A patchy" server but has been abbreviated over the years :D

Yesterday was up and down but today seems ok but slow. Do you think it has anything to do with this BV thingy tracking us all the time.

In a word, no. Admin has already said that the dataserver that he uses has been playing up.
Its like all these things: If you have a free forum then you do have to put up with a bit of nonsense every so often. Its a pain but that's a basic fact of economic life. If you want to pay then you get better server times and fewer people on it but it costs money.
Admin has always maintained that he wants to keep this a free forum and so we are a bit stuck. Even the money that was donated would probably not have been enough to pay for a better service.

Yes I find clicking on posts slower than before:mad:

I got cut off and was logged on for abuot 20 hours lol :)
and the coloured bars are gone, it seems Phil is playing with the site
unless we have a HACKER:D:D

One of the screens that I got yesterday was an Apache server entrance page. It would appear that Admin is in the process of moving the site.

Seeing as he is running this site for nothing, let's all be patient and take the pins out of the wax dolly of Admin and start sticking them into the wax model of an Apache server :D

I'm quite certain that it will all come right in the end. Its just that porting the info. across can be problematic. It depends on how much support one gets from the dataserver people.

Problem signing in!

Have now just got on the site for the first time in nearly a week, is there a problem?

I have not been able to get on the last few days as well.

When I came back from a few days away and found that wildcamping.co.uk was offline I did a bit of digging.

The site is hosted on servers in the USA, there was an explosion at the hosting company's data centre. The explosion and electrical fire damaged, beyond repair, the electrical gear where the utility service enters the building as well as the transfer switch and main distribution panel that feeds the data center. Because, I imagine, the standard backup generators would have fed through the main distribution panel they were unable to provide power, this took the majority of the servers offline.

Additional backup generators were put in place but because of the extensive damage it took some time to restore services.
