Problem with central locking

I have a problem with the central locking for the cab on a 2006 Fiat Ducato.

Normally when I press the button on the key fob, both cab doors would lock. What started as an intermittent fault has now become permanent. Now when I press the fob, the lock on the drivers door sets, I can see the passenger door lock try to set but it doesn't and almost immediately the drivers door lock pops up again. I tried locking the doors by manually locking the drivers door with the key but the locks immediately pop up again. However, when I lock the passenger door manually with the key both locks set and stay locked.

Has anyone come across this? I'm not technical or particularly handy, but any suggestions would be welcomed.

I can't directly help with your van but the typical cause is broken wires in the door jam where they fold or problems with the drivers door lock.

Sounds like the central locking motor or linkage on the passenger door. When you lock with the key from the passenger door directly, the door lock mechanism is driving the lock directly. When you attempt to lock it any other way, the lock has to be actuated by the solenoid and remote linkage.

I had a look on the internet to see if anyone else had the problem. I found one thats a real corker

It was on the C&MC Site. Guy says the front doors of the MH lock and unlock with the fob but not the habitation door. Reply .. On the basis your key fob is battery operated then it may be a simple job of replacing the battery ;)

As for your fault. If the door works ok and the manual locking works properly it could be a partially broken wire and not enough power getting through to activate the solenoid. Looks like a door strip down and check the solenoid assembly and wiring. Found one post where they disconnected the battery and got the ECU to restart and that solved his problem.
