Ok. So looking at batteries - the T105s were good but given our recently infrequent use of the van I thought I'd look at the opposite end of the spectrum and get cheapy-cheap batteries.

Anyhoo, after looking around, the varta/Bosch powerframe batteries(which appear to be identical) seem pretty good value.

My question, the promotive blue, L5 and T5, all look about right, but having perused the literature I'm scratching my head as to the differences - they all appear to have the calcium-silver grids, labyrinth lids, flame arrestors, etc, but different prices. Are there differences that I've missed or is it a marketing thing?

No, the powerframe technology is not hype.

Sorry I can't help with the specific differences you're asking about.

I changed my crap AGM Banners for Varta LFD90's.

Been happy so far.

Korky.

Sorry, wasn't clear. I don't think the powerframe thing is marketing hype, I was meaning the numerous Bosch/varta batteries that seem to have different names but the same specs.

Bosch and Varta batteries are both made by Johnson Controls, one of the worlds largest battery manufacturers. The only differences between the two are the labels, distribution channels and prices.

Well, I've ordered a Bosch L5 (180ah) as a bit of a test, will see how it goes.
