Hi All.
I am looking at the Jackery range of power packs and wonder if anyone has any experience of using these particular with solar panels?
I have seen some very good reviews.
At present I have 2x100 solar panels connected to a 100 ah lithium battery.
Rather than buy another battery, I am wondering whether a power pack might be more useful to me.
Any info would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

You need to look at the capacity of the power pack and compare it to the capacity of the battery.

The capacity will be in one of three units:-
ah - Amp hours.
wh - watt hours. To convert wh to ah divide by 12. i.e. 60wh = 60/12 = 5 ah.
mAh - milliamp hours. To convert mAh to ah divide by 1,000. i.e. 20,000 mAh = 20 ah

You will also work a way to install the power pack so that it powers the appropriate devices. This is not as easy as it sounds.

IMHO you will be better off installing a second battery if you have room and your 230v charger is large enough.

Something that you may - but really should not have to - bear in mind is Jackerys marketing is based on sending loads of free units to YouTubers to review - and many of those reviewers could have a natural vested interest in providing a positive review ("if I say good things about this, they will send me more freebies").

I have no experience of a Jackery Unit so don't know if they are good or bad or anything inbetween.
You should ask yourself if you need the various features of a device like that as an all-in-one unit? In a small camper or for tent camping I can imagine it would be very useful. In a larger camper/motorhome where you have USB and 12V sockets on the wall, maybe an inverter already (if you needed one), would you actually benefit from a extra features a jackery offers over another battery?
I recommended one of these type of units to a lady who wanted to convert her VW T5 to a camper but was a) limited in space, b) expected to use an awning more than inside the van, and c) thought she may change vehicles within a year. In that circumstance a Jackery (or similar) I think is ideal.

Hi. Thanks for your replies. I have an inverter (Waeco 2000w) and am pleased with my current setup.
BUT I live in France and have plenty of solar.
However I shall shortly be returning to the U.K. and may need to spend several months in the van whilst house hunting.
With needing the same amount of power as I do now, I am concerned that I won’t achieve enough with my present system.
Also as far as a second battery goes, my current model is a Relion 100HP and I have heard on the grapevine that these may not be imported any more.
Kind regards

regardless of how good the Jackerys may be, I think for your setup a standard second LiFePO4 Battery would suit best.

Unless you actually need a portable power pack, I would buy another 100ah lithium battery. It will be easier to charge up and you will probably save a few pounds too.
Alpha batteries have Relion in stock now.

Hi. Thanks for the info. Unfortunately they don’t have my model in stock but have written to see if any other can be matched.
Best wishes

Gobatteries.co.uk have them in stock but at about a 20% premium. Could you contact Relion themselves to see if you could use an alternative or they may be able to list stockists and waiting times if they are still being imported.
