Portuguese toll roads

I discovered today that a number of Portuguese toll roads are now toll free. This changed on 1 January.

The 2025 State Budget (OE), which came into force on Wednesday, establishes the end of road charges on eight motorways, from 1 January 2025.

Cheers for the update, heading that way soon and its good to know. We managed to avoid all the tolls last time using the N2 as a guide.

Not all tolls though so still need to register your details as you enter Portugal if you plan on using motorways with tolls.

Currently in algarve it has made it so much easier getting around these parts

This move should encourage more tourism in Portugal. I may well hop into Portugal now on my next north to south trip normally through toll free western Spain.
