Anyone know if it is OK to stop on the beach at Porth Maddog? I know it's all right during the day but what about nights? I need to stay somewhere for a week from the 18th of June.
Many thanks in anticipation.

hi
i think you must mean blackrock sands at morfa bychan, its near by and you can drive onto the sands.
dont know about staying on overnight but there is a small campsite at one end in the dunes which might be of help.

As far as I can remember you aren't allowed to park overnight on the beach.

Thanks for that. I don't want to use a camp site. Hate organised parking, kids let loose, ball games parties etc., Yes I know I am a grump. But I like my peace and quiet, if I want noisy kids I can take my own Grandchildren. and having someone just 20 feet from my unit. My mate is staying at Haven so I have washing facilities etc., I did check out haven as a matter of interest and I would have needed a second mortgage to stay there.:)

ok so you dont want a campsite, then may i suggest that you buy an ordnance survey map and look for some minor roads to check out for layby's ect.
how far away do you need to be? there are places round and about that should enable to stay without causing you to much trouble, or google earth the area to see if there's anything.

happy hunting

This is in the POI database. Bit near the road but it has a sea view

Ive stayed on the campsite at Black Rock, its basic and not regimented, pitch where you like but there were quite a few kids from memory.

Thanks Trani I shall certainly have a look at the campsite. and the laybye looks OK as well. Not worried about traffic noise. once I've had my nightcap I don't hear much. I am not really unsociable. just like peace and quiet. and hate regimented layouts. thats what 29 years in the army does for you. LOl
I have the same views about eating in restaurants. I will not eat in a place where there are families with kids eating. I know they have to eat somewhere, and I know that a lot of them are well behaved. But it is just my thing. I was in a cafe in our high street this morning and three women came in with their prams and a couple of toddlers. Well the prams hit most of the tables between the door and their chosen table then after about half hour of one screaming kid whose mother just ignored it. Two of the mothers went outside for a smoke. One of their sprogs was crawling all over the floor and tried to clime up my trouser leg using its sticky hands. I had had enough and said loudly "GO AWAY". And the mothers took umbrage. Isa it me?? Maybe I don't know. But my kids never misbehaved when out or on camp sites when they were young and I can't accept others allowing their kids to do so.

No its not just you, I agree with you. Kids these days seem to take priority over adults. There is no discipline or respect taught by the parents. Mrs D and I never had children by choice so we have little tolerance for the little bleeders.

When I was a kid if we were lucky enough to be allowed in a pub or a café we would sit quietly in the corner. These days its seems its OK for them to run around screaming and people accept it. Well I don't, Ill just go somewhere else.

Its another reason why I also hate campsites (one of many)

My Daughter is singing tonight at Glan Aber, Morfa Bychan, Porthmadog LL49 9YA

If I get time I'll mooch around, I think there's a large car park by the pub, I'll ask the landlord, John, about stopping.

sweet gossip

I agree about kids, over indulged on the whole and the two of us try our best to keep away from them.

Flipping heck they sound amazing. Their version of Run is better than the original.

Wish I could sing. doesnt stop me though, especially with a guitar when drunk. They dont need a guitarist do they?

Had a great night at the Glan Aber Pub, Beach Rd, Morfa Bychan, Porthmadog LL49 9YA

John the Landlord is a great guy and lets a few MH park in his car park, couple of VW there last night, if that was you, we were the big MH!!

Obviously a couple of drinks in the pub will make things fair.

Loads of long faces after Man U last night, but a good party atmosphere soon livened things up.

They have a children's area, but for us grumps the car park is on the other side of the road. Tall hedge to block out sound and wind.

now that sounds OK to me. I shall try it. Thank you one and all.

Lucky you can put up with the noisy kids and parties long enough to use Havens facilities
