For the second time in a week the local police are setting of there sirens and playing recorded messages over there cars PA system telling us to all stay indoors and make sure all our doors and windows are closed between 6.00 am until 9.00am in the morning while they disinfect the roads.

I can only assume that it is pretty strong stuff they are using, no mention about moving your cars or in my case my motorhome of the road, so I presume it won't damage the paint work.

Seems strange that they will have sprayed this small urburnisation twice now. There are probably around 500 houses here and I would say that 70% of them are empty as most are used as holiday homes. Last week we have seen 4 Ambulances with there emergency lights on attending here and the ambulance staff in full protective gear, my Mrs thought they were wearing space suits.

Fingers crossed that none of the residents have caught the Coronavirus. There is only one road in and out of this urburnisation and there is a continuing police presence who stop every car leaving to check that you are following the lock down rules.

Unfortunately there is only 1 person allowed to be in a car, so it is my job to go out and do the shopping using my cousin's car, he cannot risk going out as he suffered a stroke late last year and still isn't 100% right and the Mrs won't drive in Spain. After this I never want to see a bloody supermarket again, never realised how boring and hard work shopping is. Stay safe everyone.

It's good to know alcohol is an essential product here, been taking plenty of medicine myself by way of Grant's whisky at €10 a litre at night and litre bottles of Angus beer cost 67 cents during the day. Couldn't afford the cost of this medicine back in the UK, think the government should take vat and duty of drink for the moment, especially if it's correct that alcohol can kill the virus. Think the motorhome will be a bit overweight when we return home, all this drinking and food and no exercise.

They are still out spraying disinfect now, didn't start to 9.00am, but hey this is Spain, you get used to the manuana times here. Lol

Its the same in my village all the bins and the road getting spayed every day, we have had one case of the vires here a 20 year old boy taken to hospital Monday. but so far no problems in the supermarket getting food , Stay safe you lot,

It’s interesting that they consider spraying the roads worthwhile. Most people in the area we are in UK are getting their daily exercise walking round the roads.

Wow!

Spraying the roads with disinfectant - is there something really important we don't know about in the UK yet? :cautious:

Or is it just the Spanish going overboard??

Quite a few other countries are doing it, China did it, there were plenty of videos on line showing them doing it, I have also seen a video from my mate who lives in Thailand, they are also doing it.

Don't know the answer to that, it was like a pickup truck with what looked like a fan going, it was blowing the disinfectant into the air while driving along slowly. It was not directed at the roads and the road was not damp afterwards. I was on the balcony and it was about 100 metres away from me at the time on a road behind us. I suddenly started sneezing, don't know if it had anything to do with the chemical. A positive though, there was no annoying barking dogs left out barking away like there is every morning. They must have decided to keep them in. 😁

In cities in France they are spraying pavements everyday, dont know what with! they are also removing all benches so nobody can sit on one!

I suspect that may be coming if the instructions are not followed over Easter.
