Hi All

Ive been a free member for a couple of weeks now and I just love this site and find it very informative HOWEVER I do intend to become a full paid up member but we are waiting FOR DELIVERY of our MH but it wont be ready untill 6th April easter weekend as we are having a few things added to it i.e. Alarm, Bike wrack, canapy and reversing camara. Anyway I thought it best to wait to become a full member untill we are up and running.

OK my question is will the POI data base be up to date with only wild camping locations that are currently accessable and not one's that are no longer available? as I dont want to be waisting time and diesel driving to sites that are no longer available.

Thanks

Arumba

Welcome to the site Arumba and hope you enjoy your new motorhome wherever you choose to go.
BUT..........
This is probably a good time to remind people that POI's are collated and administered by Chris (Canalsman) on a purely voluntary basis who spends a lot of his time doing this. Over the past few weeks a number of POI have been put forward on the site which are not suitable for larger motorhomes or access problems and this has been discussed on other threads so I do not wish to open this up again here.
Let us remember that it is Canalsman's decision as to whether he wants to include any POI's, it is his spreadsheet which he kindly passes on to the members of this forum to use, it is not the membership fee that allows members access to this spreadsheet. That fee is for the joy of having all the useful information and banter that comes within the forum threads.
I hope I am correct in adding this and I look forward to any new POI spreadsheets that Canalsman uploads, but only as and when he feels like it.

The next release of the POI database is on the 1st of april and they are normally every month through the summer.
Each update has new locations and unsuitable locations are removed.

When you are planning a trip, check out your likely stopovers on Google Earth to verify that they are suitable for you and your vehicle. You can always post new ones if you come across any.

Tried and tested and well chuffed with it.

The POI is the best gadget you will ever get for your motorhome.

Thanks all

one thing i didn't think about was whether all the locations on the PIO would take a 20ft MH will it be just a case of trial and error or is there a way of knowing if the location is big enough as i have noticed on some locations when i have looked on google maps you cant really tell if they are big enough for a 20ft MH

I think you'll find almost all, if not all, the POI locations will be suitable.

Some of the places have narrow or steep approach roads, and this is mentioned in the notes that you can read when using Google Earth.

Chris

20ft is not long as motor homes go. Laybys will be fine. Some car parks you may need two spaces. Pubs you can ring in advance to check. "Other" locations I guess you would have to check on Google maps street viw if available but I reckon mist would be OK from what I've seen.

Thank you

Thank you Everyone for your feedback I can't wait to collect my MH on 6th April I am so exited about been able to drive of into the distance I am also a wee bit nervous too but I am try to iron out all my questions before the big adventure starts :dance::dance:

A simple way is to delete all of them, then re-install only the latest ones.

Thanks for that, Scampa, should have thought of that,
will do that now as new one is out tomorrow according to Phil
thanks again
John
