Well young Kevin, I would like to update the poi's on my garmin sat navs, but lack both the knowledge and the confidence to do it, hence my plea
Peter

The POI files which you have has a 3 letter extension IE POIFILE.***? for tom Tom it would be OV2 Garmin I think is GPX

And which model is your Garmin?

Can somebody please help us "non technical" people who are not up to speed with how to do POI updates ?
What we need is some kind person to do a bullet point list for Garmin and TomTom.

I realise it will take a little time but it would be so helpful. 😁

It will vary a little from model to model so might be difficult, have you the manual/instructions or Googled and looked on YouTube?

YouTube and Google are good for many things BUT the videos are made by people who fully understand what to do and because of that they assume what they say will be easily picked up by the viewer , nope . 🥴🤔

I'd love to be able to help, but all I have to go on so far is Garmin and Tom-tom, no model or file type.

The model of SatNav I have is a Garmin "Drive 50" ( it is about five or six years old now ) but I'm not sure which file type it uses 🤔 I lost the instruction booklet some time ago.
Maybe others will have the same model, I know when I bought it, it had very good reviews and was a popular choice.

It is the WildCamping POIs to which Oppy refers; the relevant POIs will be found in the "Garmin" folder that forms part of the POI download and the extensions are .csv for the data and .bmp for the icons. They should be uploaded to the satnav using Garmin's POI Loader, downloadable from their website.

Instructions are provided in the User Guide - England Wales Scotland.pdf that is included in the POI Download .zip file.

I think you've got it sussed, you know more than myself, I've never done Garmin, only TomTom but without much info I thought perhaps they came from a friend or somewhere.

Thanks Kevin for trying
