I have a leak :( I went away last weekend, parked up and went out for the evening. When I got back I noticed that the carpet near the sink/cooker was wet,I looked and could see a little water coming from under the sink. I looked under the sink and could see nothing. We went to bed and tried not to worry about it. Early next morning it had dried a little so I tried to narrow down where it was coming from, when I turned on the tap a few seconds later a little flow of water came from under the sink unit, I guess there is a leaky pipe under there but I cant see anything because it is all enclosed. When I looked outside there were small drips along the drivers side under the step and at the points that the skirt/sill is divided by lockers(it looked as if water was following the line of the pipe and dripping out).

Today a nice mobile man came out to look at it and it wouldnt do it again, we used the hot and cold tap ran loads of water through and it showed none of the symptoms again. He was very nice and said that we could see all the joints through the hatch under the sink and they were definitely not leaking today but to get a proper look at them he will need to take the whole kitchen apart so he left it up to me to try to track it down a little more before he attempts such a big job.

This afternoon I have driven around and run the taps at all sorts of angles trying to make it leak again and it wont do the same as last weekend, it has had a small drip from the gas locker but that is on the opposite side and end of the van :rolleyes2: help anybody got any suggestions.

half fill the sink and get some toilet roll, preferably coloured,it's easier to see and pat gently round every joint you can see or feel, checking regularly for sign of wet.follow the pipework in the area as far as you can reach and double check round the base of the sink where the waste comes out.check first with water in the sink, then again with taps running

I had a leak similar to what you described
It was coming from the space between the metal (bottom of dink) and the drain plug
Have a careful look put your finger on the drain plug and if you get movement between the white plastic and the metal sink base water will leak through

Thanks for the replies, i will just keep trying with what you suggest.

Today its leaking, I think Ive tracked down where from but at the moment Im not sure if its a pipe or a joint, never mind Ive made progress.
Is it likely that its the actual joint that has split for some reason or is it more likely that the pipe has split near to the joint?

what sort of joint ? there's a few ! pushfit, hose and jubilee clip, solder, compression, the joint's usually the weak point, can you see it ?

I'm a plumber and a common fault is when the tap is not turned off fully.
The water runs down the underside of the spout and then onto the worktop/floor or along a pipe and drips off at a fitting or bend.

It is difficult to see. I would check by just turning the taps on very slowly. Sometimes the taps drip into the bowl but other times the underside of the spout.

Sorry didnt see this its a jubilee clip

Well I thought i traced it to the cold water joint where it splits under the sink to go to the batroom, I could see water coming from that joint. I let it dry out again then when I looked the other day it would not do it again.:mad1:

I thought I had put the year somewhere, its 2001, it is not a continuous pressure system.
I realise water will follow the pipe and could show up a distance from the actual leak but this is not leaking at all now, there is no water its not that I cant trace where water is coming from. Its driving me mad :mad2:

Having just seen the photos of the van on ebay, I wondered, that as the fridge is under the worktop, next to the sink, is it possible that the fridge may be defrosting, the drain on the back of the fridge may be blocked allowing the water to flow over the evaporation tray...just a thought.

Good luck

:pc:

We thought of that but the first time it was definitely a small flow of water from under the cupboard when i turned the tap on.
