I think we have been here before but many years ago. I use google maps all the time as its great for plotting routes on the laptop. It does not show Elevation though. Google Earth Pro does but I always thought it didn't do routing. It does now however. So you can scroll along the route and see the altitude. Better still using the Ruler tool you can click along the route and it shows you a profile of the elevation below. However its a bit clumsy as it just draws straight lines along the road but you get a good idea.
Ive been talking to ChatGPT for an hour looking at different apps and options to get a more accurate elevation profile but have come to the conclusion that Google Earth is probably the easiest unless you know different?
This is a route I did just now between two Motorhome Aires. The one on the right looks quiet and small but its at 800ft above sea level and the one on the left is near the Grand Ballon in the Alsace mountains at 3800ft. Looking how hot its going to be my thinking is the higher one might be more comfortable for a good nights sleep but I bet its noisy during the day at least.
All interesting stuff.
