Playing internet radio on the move?

My 2 favourite radio stations are only available on line. Fine I can play them on my phone and bluetooth that to the car radio or Sonos in the 'van. That works fine while stationary, but in the move, if ,my phone loses signal then re gains signal, the player does not re start. So totally unworkable.

So my question is does anyone know a particular player app or other way to play a streaming internet radio station on a phone (android) in such a way that when the phone regains signal it will just start playing again on it's own without user intervention please.

Won't play stations outside the UK so can't even try that one.
BBC sounds operates outside uk ? Only BBC stations I presume .
Use it all the time for certain stations [programmes] and podcasts

No I want to play stations while I am in the UK, but the stations I want to play may not themselves be in the UK. That player linked above would not play a station that was not located in the UK.

Aah !
Thought you wanted to listen when you were outside the UK

Would Radio Garden not play any non-UK station or did you try only one particular non-UK station?

Radio Caroline (a UK station) it thought was in France and would not play it.

My other Favourite, Classic Rock Florida it could not find so offered me a station from Little Rock KA which it also would not play as it was outside the UK

It's not wrong; Radio Caroline is in Rennes: https://www.radiocaroline.bzh/

You may find the following useful:

That's a lot of fiddle to get a different player working just to see how it handles loss of then regaining signal.

Both the stations I want to listen to will play on their own players so the stations are aimed at the UK so I should not have to do cloak and dagger stuff like that.

I think that with regard to Caroline, it's a case of identifying the correct Caroline and Classic Rock Florida is presumably not targeting the UK but unaware of or ignoring any potential copyright issues. I agree that it's extremely frustrating when laws disrupt our ability to view/listen to what we want.

I think it does but you have to pay a small subscription. Have a look at Radio Paradise, you can download music for offline playback.

Classic Rock Florida is definitely aimed at the UK. https://classicrockflorida.com/

If you want to find the stream address of a particular station this is a handy tool https://www.rcast.net/dir/?action=search

But the question is finding a stream player on a mobile phone that will re start automatically if it loses then regains mobile phone signal. Surely that is a pretty basic requirement of a streaming player on a phone but one I cannot find discussed anywhere?

I have loads of music on my phone I can play, but the point of a radio station, especially the 2 I like most, they have a much bigger play list than me and someone else chooses and I get to hear new stuff, or stuff I have not heard in ages and forgotten about.

Try using Duck Duck go.
It's like a VPN in many ways and keeps trackers at bay.

While living in Portugal, I can access most stations. If you like cool, gentle Jazz, try Radio Swiss Jazz.

You can get r garden using the TOR web browser, works in linux, should work in android.

My vans head unit either plays via apple play or connects direct to WiFi

Either via the phone or the vans 5g router I play various apps from the internet (or the head units internet radio)

But your right, when the 4/5g drops out you need to go back to apple play or the head unit and restart which is fine if your not alone, if alone you end up pulling over to restart the process.

Whilst I find BBC radio streaming reconnects very well after loss of signal I do find other streaming radio eg, Magic Radio doesn't too well, seems to be the app cleverness!
