I'm want to build a portable power supply using a 20-30Ah sealed lead acid battery. It will have both 12v and 5v USB outlets and will need to be carried. Approx weight with battery and charger will be around 13kg, does anyone have any experience as to the strength and durabilty of these type of boxes and pref a link to a supplier at a good price. Type of box required.
Thanks

Why not just buy a jump start pack which will essentially do all you want and more? Start at around £30

I did look at those, but was looking for something cheaper as I don't require the volt meter. However if they are rigid enough to have a carry strap attached and can put up with a bit of abuse I may well change my mind. Are they pretty much bomb proof or more delicate and handle with care?

Doesn't have your 5v USB though, could plug a adapter in for it I guess.

Probably best you'll get for that money but is a little lower ah than you wanted, I didn't realise some were so low to be honest.

Thanks for your time, I've got several dual 1A 5v USB outlets that plug into a cigar type socket, so that would solve that if it had dual 12v sockets.

I didn't realise how low an Ah those booster/starters were either, you would think it would kill such a small battery.

No bother, I doubt you could buy the ingredients to make one of them that cheap, you could maybe even get 2 depending on what you need it for / space.

I'm not in any way affiliated with the seller by the way, I'm aware I sound like a salesman!

I'm going to take a trip around a few of the yacht chandlers tomorrow and have a look at their battery boxes assuming they stock em. The price of that unit you linked to is very tempting, I might be able to get away the Amperage but would certainly prefer larger but no doubt a much larger price.

If you are willing to spend a bit more i can recommend one of these :-

Clarke JS5IN1 5 in 1 Jump Start - Machine Mart

It has everything you need ( 2 X 12V DC and 2 X 5V USB ) and some. I know someone that has had one for over 4 years now and he cannot fault it.

If you can wait until they do a VAT Free promo it brings the price down.
