Hi,

I'm looking for the sheets of plastic you sometimes see lining bathroom walls. Has anybody got a cheap source for this? I'm not after anything fancy, just waterproof :)

Cheers,

Steve.

If you mean plastic cladding, try your local DIY discounters. I used tongue and groove in my shower enclosure.

They where cheap because the ends where damaged, but as I didn't need the full length, it didn't matter.

Try Rearo.
They send samples out FOC, every one else seems to charge.
With the samples you get a 10% off voucher.
Their customer service is good & best of all less than £45 for a 1 x 2.4m panel, way cheaper then the DIY stores.
They have a fantastic range too.

We bought some but haven't fitted them yet. Quality looks good.

My only advice is be careful that the material is strong enough to take a severe impact.

For instance t&g plastic Fascia is relatively cheap but if you were to slip and fall against it, I would think it would crack.

There is a board (aquaboard) on he market but it's not that cheap, the benefit is it's 12mm ply backed laminate so you wouldn't need to back the enclosure before lining it.

Best of luck

image.jpgimage.jpgi did my bathroom using swish 2.4 x 1mtr 12ml panels , my son is in the process of doing his bathroom out in 2.6 x 300mm 10ml panels , they are reasonably solid and easy to fix there are other sizes but prices average out about the same as tiling ie £15-19 sq mt , the prime advantage is the ease of fitment and no grout to constantly replace wear & tear i’ll have to report back on in a few years

Google shower/bath wall panels. Building plastic supplies, there's a whole world out there.

I'm thinking of something like this for my bathroom at home,
are they easy to cut to size?
how do they join to each other, can you see the joint?
how do you attach them to the wall?

I've some white plastic panels stripped out of a Sprinter. Glossy finish one or two minor scuffs and screw holes. You should be able to find enough to do bathroom walls. You are welcome to have them gratis if you collect.

We tried hollow plastic on the 'new house' it was rubbish and got sent back. Now have solid pvc sheeting, it can be had in various thicknesses. IIRC ours is 3mm.

they are a tongue & groove type joints and do lock together tightly mine have a marbled effect and pass my wife’s critical eye, my sons sheets have a tile effect and the joints are invisible , the corner and end caps make life simple but are expensive, all i use for cutting is a multi tool but any fine jigsaw should do, manufacturers recommend no more nails / fix & grip type sealants for attaching to the wall but silicon works well & is much cheaper,

Often called wet room panels.

FWIW we installed some in one of our guest rooms when we ran a busy guest house. We often upgraded guests to that room as the panels were so easy to clean and it made the guest happy too. After 8 years of hard commercial usage and believe me paying guests dong give a flying toss about your property they looked as if they were brand new. Mind you they were quality panels but there you are... they are just excellent.
