Plans to criminalise trespassing..read the link..

I know its based on travellors but same law can be applied to wild camping soon..at the moment wild camping is a cival offence but if the gov get there way it will become a criminalise offence..

wild camping is a cival offence ??

Does this mean that this website is encouraging us to break the law?

trespassing on private land is not encouraged by this website and never has been.

We ask members not to park where they are not welcome.

An extremely interesting article. I was just watching the effects of squatters on 'Homes from Hell' last night on ITV.

I wonder why the Police consistently say that it is a Civil matter and nothing to do with them??????

Even if the Law is changed, the Gypsies will claim to be an oppressed ethnic minority and take the case to Europe, where no doubt the conviction will be overturned.

Irish travellers will also try it on but hopefully will not be so lucky.

Police abuse

This is clearly going to be abused by the Police as they do with all new Laws, we could as a community find ourselves at the wrong end. The other differculty is the Police officer who abuses or mis-interprets the Law to harass us when we are not in breach of such Laws. That has certainly been the case for a lot of experiences in my life time. Remembering that a Policeman has very little knowledge of the Law, just the basics to do the job. They are not taught Civil Law and in very simplistic terms Criminal Law leaving option to abuse the Law far to common!

wasnt the point i was making..but if this goes through which is very likely soon then parking in our fav wild spots(which is technically trespassing you are on someones land council or private and included car parks)
and yeah this is going to be abused by the police...

After thinking on this subject for a day or two, I am more optimistic.

I believe a similar law was made in Eire, which is the reason we have more Irish travellers nowadays. If it stops them from doing what they do presently (invading land and squatting for months), then they may go elsewhere (Europe). The odd motorhome or campervan does not present such a threat to locals and it may work out to our benefit. It could even give some momentum to a system of Aires.
