Glenn Harris, our Service Manager and Lawrence our Sales manager went to Nantes France at the invitation of Pilote for a tour of their production facility.

They were extremely impressed with the facilities their, own woodworking making their own interior furniture, nothing bought in except appliances, everything thouroughly tested before installation.

Every single item is marked with the customers name, they make only to order and are extremely prouid of their product and it shows.

They claim that a customer can collect their finished vans without the need for a PDI and drive happily away.

Should ther be any need for warranty recticiation, spares are rfeadily available and the dealer himself can authourise the work to be done without having to report and seek authourisation. !

Pilote were impressed with out technical knowledge, reputation and workshop facilities just as we were impressed with them.

I am pleased to say that we are now appointed distributors for Pilote in the South and we will be taking delivery of new vans early 2011, we will also be on the Pilote stand at the NEC Birmingham.

i must say that when i got my van a compass drifter ,the guy had a pilote a class on a talbot chassis it was a bit newer than mine (27 years old nearly now) ,and the interior fittings were all in very good condition for its age ,as was the outside. my pocket was not on a parr to the van price unfortunatly as i would have had that one .

I like the Pilote, and another French make which offers great value is the Chausson but those are more at the bargain end and use a lot more standard fittings as do most motorhomes these days.

Good luck with the Pilote range. I would buy another Chausson tomorrow if only they made an island bed with an open lounge like my Welcome 70. But EVERY Chausson now has the same cramped 'L' shaped lounge/diner regardless of the rear layout. The only layout which we like is the Autotrail Dakota, but God it's expensive!

Went to a local dealer to see what they have, one van had a toilet door that wouldn't close, one van had a cupboard door that would not latch, and one had a rear over bed door that hit the toilet wall when you tried to open it... and these faults were on BRAND NEW vans!!!

The only fault we've had in four years is the plastic catch broke on the TV slide out, just after the warranty ran out! EVERY door opens and locks perfectly, as for design faults/problems for a mid range van (the Flash being the basic), lack of power points - just one in the lounge area and one in the TV cupboard, and no 240v water heating - only gas, but that's it!
