went from ayr to whitby at the weekend then on to pickering back home 575miles at a cost of 120 for petrol trying to work out mpg but dont know how to bit of a dunce as to how many litres to a gallon to try and work out how much a gallon cost anyone help

cheers frank if petrol is roughly a pound a lire 4pound plus a gallon i must be getting at least 30 milesto the gallon graeme

That's a handy thing, but you have to be online to use it. I generally use a simple spreadsheet to keep tabs on my MPG while on holiday.
BTW I read the fuel saving advice on that site and unfortunately I'm already doing all that (apart from the regular Red X) so no saving there for me then :(

hi guys,

I try not to work it out!!!!!! I know the green goddess does an average, wait for it, 14mpg, so best to just put it in and enjoy.

have fun

Mpg

I would think this is the way
Total mileage 575
divided by total litres say 120
answer is now miles per litre so multiply by 4.54

575 divided by 120 gives 4.79

4.79 x 4.54 = 21.755mpg

if you take a calculator it is easy to do each time you fill up so this gives a rough cost of each type of driving
motorways etc

Alf

Easiest way to do it is :
check how many litres you have put in and then divide this by 4.5 that will give you how many gallons you have put in.
then divide your milage by how many gallons. That will give you miles per gallon.
