Pet passports... good news?

Petition: Seek to Rejoin the EU Pet Passport Scheme

Here’s hoping they will sort out the queues at passport control, possibly we won’t require ETIAS. Another bugbear of mine is paying EE £2.40 a day for using our phones, might not sound a lot, but for a family of four for a fortnight that’s about £130.
But I have heard nothing about the 90 day rule, seems it is going nowhere. :(

Fingers crossed.

Veterinary deal: The UK wants to sign a “veterinary” deal to remove some border checks on food and drink. But this could be politically risky, as it would mean the UK aligning some of its food and drink rules with the EU, and keeping in step with Brussels over time.

This group I'm a member of has been pretty active lobbying MPs about the 90 day rule. Its crazy that we give 180 days to the EU and only get 90 ourselves over there when we could have had the same.

So free movement for pets but not their owners. Will there be lots of cats and dogs spending six months in Provence then? :ROFLMAO:

The whole thing is crazy Barry.

But correct me if I am wrong, one people have been here for 180 days they cannot come back for 180 days.

This is what ChatGPT says. I think we are much more relaxed than the Schengen zone.

Re-entry Rules After Six Months:

There is no fixed minimum period that an EU citizen must stay outside the UK before returning — but…

The UK Border Force looks at patterns of travel. If someone tries to spend more time in the UK than abroad, or appears to be living in the UK via frequent visits, they might be denied entry.

General Guidance:

  • Spending 6 months in, 6 months out is typically acceptable.
  • Spending more than 180 days in any 12-month period as a visitor may raise red flags.
  • The purpose of the visit matters. Repeated long stays without a clear tourist or family reason may be questioned.

Best Practice:

  • After a 6-month stay, wait at least several months (ideally 3–6) before returning for another long stay.
  • Be prepared to show ties to your home country (e.g. job, residence, return ticket) if questioned at the border.

Bit like fair usage on your phone
