Perranporth has problems as well

That's Cliff Road, it has a one hour limit for parking, I doubt anyones overnighting.
p.s. most vans can't get in the carpark due to height barriers, so you see the vans parked up along the road, then as happened to us, older people in the car park complain as they can't see over the vans whilst parked.
p.p.s. A lot of the vans will be 'locals' going surfing.

looking at the vans in the picture I'm left wondering how many would have facility's built in

So pleased I don’t like most coasts apart from northwest Scotland and wouldn’t dream of parking up anywhere like the photo shows with a multitude of vans and motorhomes.

The one hour limit is only between 9 am & 6 pm so it's very likely that they are there over night

I should have remembered that as in the past we have timed our visits to pick up pastie and chips in the town early evening, then up to cliff road to eat them and have a coffee, then watch the evening surfers and/or go down to beach. I'm guessing most of the 'smell of wee' will be the 'local' surfers whose vans don't have facilities, and rely on the toilets which are just out of sight below the van in photo.

Exactly Colin I agree I dont know of this carpark but its going to be the surfers to blame for the wee.Why dont the council open and have 24 hour toilets if Local Surfers (which must be a well known problem here.) continue to visit. And what about day trippers in cars. What do they do for toilet facilities?

Cornwall has had a campaign of shutting public toilets for several years, at one time many of the bigger carparks would have toilets, lots of these are now closed some buildings being sold off, others boarded up or demolished. They now rely on local businesses to provided toilets,

Just returned from a trip up to Edinburgh to visit our daughter, we expected the toilets to be shut on the way up the A1, lo and behold, no they are open, clean and the one I used was well stocked with hand cleaner. Wish England could take a leaf out of the Scots book and bring back public toilets.

Councils seem to close to loos to save money. I don’t think they thought of the consequences. Our local park had wild, high grassy areas that have been as loos during the lockdown. Our local cemetery allows dogs to be walked in it now. Some of them seem to be very clever and use loo paper!!!!!!!!!

And getting worse. Where we live they closed the local toilets but then provided toilets in the Town Hall housing office, only used them once, you had to ask to use them and the look on the staff members face was priceless. In another local town their toilets - yes they still have them, were locked (mid afternoon!), so popped to the library next door, snooty librarian said no their toilets were for staff only. I was desperate, and wished I’d had a change of clothes as I was so tempted to just pee where I stood I was so peeved.
