One is having ones drive resurfaced & have been told that when it’s finished, Wednesday ish then I cannot put the murvi on it for four days. Until its gorn orf an ardened. So we are heading up to the canal museum at Stoke Bruerne, then on to the peak district. Not having been up that way for 3/4 years can any kindly soul let me know if the following are still available to overnight on.

1] the cycle / walking track car park just off the A515 on the road to Longnor 2] The car park next to the pub at Monsal head. Thanks

Don't know about them but theres plenty of places to pull in and hide in Stoney Middleton.:)

The carpark off the A515 at the start of the tissington trail is excellent to overnight, or opposite is the Royal oak pub that has a good campsite and excellent pub food in very large portions!!!

Bakewell

We have stayed at the cattle market car park at Bakewell, they lock the gates at 10pm so you will be locked in until morning, if its market day you will be woken very early by cattle trucks so park well away from the market.

Hi, Further to above. Because we cannot get away until latish
on wednesday I needed somewhere to stop within two hours of home. Windsor council has recently let people stay overnight at Almer rd coach park. Ringing up today , Aimee
confirmed that from 6.0 until midnight it is £1.20 then its free until 9.00 in the morning. overnighting NO problem. good spot in the center of town.

Hi, White van man is now finished & we have a nice new driveway – two nice new driveways actually, but that’s another story. So its Alma rd car park Windsor tonight, a little spot by Stoke Bruerne canal museum tomorrow night, then the peaks for 3 / 4 days walking. Its a bizzy bizzy life being a pensioner.

The landlord of the Black Horse in Ward Hutton near Ashbourne is happy to let a van overnight in his car park if you drink in the place. If I was you, I would have a meal as the food is excellent and not expensive. If you are camping in that area, they will even do a takeaway version of what is on the main menu.

Aaaagh, This now has the NO OVERNIGHT parking sign by the entrance. Had to use one of our other ones. Talking to the barman at the Monsal head hostelry, he said "the peak wardens are now very hot on moving motorhomes on" !!!

if anyone is in the area of buxton then there is a social club at sterndalemoor on the A515, at weekends they have country music/linedance you can park overnight on the carpark if you go into the club.

hi the parsley hay cycle hire centre at the junction of the tissington and high peak trails is fine you can drive through the usual tarmac car park to an overspill area, this is on the A515 buxton rd about two miles from the royal oak pub mentioned earlier. correcting an earlier reply the black horse is in hulland ward.

Slightly OT but hopefully relevant.

Get to Castleton leve the village and up Winnats Pass.... Turn right and follow for half a mile until you reach the first right turn (Mam Tor) is directly to your right and car park, Anyway continue down the hill towards Edale before entering the village turn left as if wanting to have a wander up Jacobs Ladder and Kinder scout ...half a mile up is a parking area...remotegranted, but tranquil.

I dont recall any signage, but worth checking out.

Still think that the Ladybower dam car parks have to be one of the best in the area--the ranger (national parks not national trust--it makes a huge difference!!) actually told me to ignore the 'no overnight' parking signs!! They are really friendly-we park overnight at one of the approaching car parks then move on to the main car park (normally in the overspill area so we have lots of room!) during the day--the parking cost is £4.00 per day but you have access to the great visitors centre/water etc--well worth it--then approx 6-7pm move back out--have had no problems whatsoever--its one of my favorite spots--great cycling/walking and oh yes rangers (going on the christmas card list!)

Hi, Thanks for the three replies above, however I think the overspill at Parsley Hay has probably also been done with the NO OVERNIGHT sign.( Why do one end and not tother?)The Lady bower dam area.It was the park rangers that the barman at monsal head was talking about. Funnily enough we are life members of the national trust and have never been moved on. Lots of peak district areas still usable, but its getting to be a bit more difficult. We did find a nice big layby on the A5004 about 4 miles north of Buxton. On the left overlooking Femilee Revervoir, no signs and all alone all night.
