A couple of questions, about passport renewal please.

I`ve emailed the Passport Office but their reply in no way related to my 2 simple questions so was probably answered by the resident cat that was drunk or high o_O

1, What happens to any existing time left on your present passport when you renew ?

2, Do you still need 6 months validity left on it to exit and re-enter the UK ?

The above questions relate to going into Europe and back again now that ****** is over with , when we go out there will be 6 months and 1 week left on them and coming back there will be 5 months and 1 week left on them, both passports have exactly the same expiry date.

The wife is convinced she`s read somewhere that people had problems having had time aqdded to the passport at renwal i.e. 10 years 7 months which i didn`t think was possible but she does

You’ll be fine for your trip into Euroland, the six months remaining to re enter the UK is a non thing.

As for remaining time on existing passport I’ve no idea, but someone else will I’m sure.

Email sent Graham, I couldn't load the link onto the forum. Mark is right about losing any time left on the old passport.
Stitch up Britain rules OK!

Not so sure you can blame this one on stitch up Britain.

We used to be able to add up to nine months from previous passport onto a new one. EU only accept passports issued within the last 10 years, making those with any additional time invalid.

Stitch up EU :p :ROFLMAO: 🤫
