I had to strip back around the window on the driver's side so that I could recover the walls and in doing so I found that the wood at the top part of the frame Had gone rotten
it's only an area of about 18 inches to the left and right the word is still good and the peace of wood below is still fairly good

Is there an easy fixed to doing this?
such as filling the area with epoxy resin for example, or do I have to replace that area with a section of wood?

From one point of view I'm quite glad that I found this now i think :(
I attached a photo

Help please plenty of advice needed

I'd be inclined to replace it with a new piece of hardwood (not ply or MDF) sticking it in with gorilla glue, firstly though remove that rotten bit then leave it to dry out for as long as you can before doing the repair.

You have much more experience working with wood Nigel, but I'm not convinced if it would do the job, have you ever used it?

Thanks chaps :)
I've dug out most of it so far today, i was going to buy a router bit for my drill to get at the rest. I'll get some of that stuff as well
definately going to leave it for a few days, hopefully the weather stays dry ish
I dont have much experience with motorhomes yet, but i am pretty sure there is a leak that is coming from the top side seams.
I guess that will need to be re-mastiked?

I've used that kind of product on localised rot on wooden window frames and it works very well. I can't recall the exact name of what I used, but the principle of the product is sound.

Got it from Amazon, gonna route out the rotten wood and then wait for a few days to dry it all out a bit
I am really pleased that i found this to be honest, there was no sign of it when the wall covering was on

Just think the shock if you had a wooden leg.

LOL :)
Am i right in saying that this piece of wood around the top of the window is not structural at all?

I am now planning a strategic attack on the window, using multiple weapons and tools
I am hoping for a successful victory by the end of the week
will send a photo of my victory parade V

The offending piece of wood waas a 2cm thick piece of cheap softwood. the leak was caused by bodged white mastic on the outside of the window
