Parking Sensors - self Fitting

Hi, the last thread on this was about two years ago, so I have started again.

Recently purchased a Hymer Swing, so no rear view at all (do any have?).

I want to fit some Parking Sensors, has anyone done this themselves or had them fitted recently?

Cheers
Matthew

Yes ,I fitted some to my Hymer, I bought them from a local car supply shop, easy enough to fit just drill a couple [ two sensors ] holes in the rear bumper push the sensors in the holes, find the wire that services the rear reversing light, connect the supplied cable to that with a blue scotch lock or solder the wires together and insulate if you want.,feed the wires to the driving area of the van and connect the bleeper box, Simples. mine were intended for a car so the cables were too short, so I just extended them although the blurb said you shouldn't, but mine work fine.

Put some on my car last year and it was very easy - exactly as described above. In my motorhome I think I'd consider a camera more than sensors, especially if you have no rear view at all. These too are pretty easily installed although obviously a more expensive option. Been considering fitting one to mine for a while now, but it's so old it has no reversing lights to plug in to so would have to be switched on and off manually - not a massive problem!

Got a 4 sensor kit from Maplin for £20. No problem fitting it to the rear of my Knaus sunTi except the indicator cable was too short. Fixed this with a bit of coax and a soldering iron. Worked so well I got another for the front - this was a little more difficult to fit due to the hard structure behind the valance. Connected it up via a microswitch on the gear lever quadrant in 1st gear location. The van came with a reversing camera, I later fitted another camera looking back as we have no rear window. Call me greedy but it's the dogs when reversing into a tight spot on a rainy night...:D
