I can't tell if this has been mentioned before -- apologies if so: CAMpRA recently posted the following warning on Facebook:
There have been so many QR code scams that I refuse to scan a QR code (even to the point of leaving a restaurant when told it was the only way to access their menu and to order, and I'm certainly not going to scan one displayed in a car park!)
Info burst: If you get to a site using Ringo (eg car park for day time parking or Forest and Land Scotland Stay the Night scheme), please be aware that Ringo do NOT use QR codes. The parking meters in Perth have been targeted with fake QR code stickers, and these could appear in other places. Ringo have an App, they don't ever use QR codes for parking payments. PKC removed 170 of these stickers in one evening recently! Photo of one from Highland and PKC (much more subtle sticker)
