Anyone looking for a cheap break should check out Caravan Holiday Parks - UK Family Caravan Sites - Park Resorts -
I've just booked 5 night in Yorkshire at a cost of £16. If you are looking for somewhere to dump your waste and refill you can't go far wrong at £4 a night. There is no minimum stay and they have sites dotted around the coast. Use the promo code TTW14 to apply a 50% discount when booking. Valid to the end (28th) July.:drive:

PR is a favorite of mine we love the one at Walton-on-the-Naze out of season they are all round about £5or6 a night with hookup and their bar opens early morning for breakfast about £4/5 for a full breaky brill if your on route to somewhere and don't want to cook.

Walton

Hi Campervanannie,

I love Walton-on-the-naze i first went there in the 1950 in an old caravan my mum rented on the east cliff site(now Naze Marine) some great memories there with good beaches and the Naze end to run your dogs.I took my mum back in her later years and stayed in one of the black huts they had that were on their:dance::dance: last legs, but she loved it.We named it Colditz.

Snowbirds.

Park Resorts, are very aggressive at the moment in the market place, they have just purchased Ocean Edge Caravan Park in North Wales. And are looking to add to their portfolio of parks.

It is interesting their marketing strategy within the the touring market, Dont be surprised to be invited to look at one of their new lodges.

Far from cynical, but I think they are looking at gaining more footfall for their sales operation. They are a very pro active sales organisation.

How do you go on with the Pitch Sizes ?

I`ve just had a quick look at the Yorkshire ones and whilst the prices seem good it does say " Size 6m X 6m ".

The last time we used a Park Resort, we found the Bar had extortionate prices. We took our grandchildren there for a week and because their favourite drink were Fruit Shoots we took a few packs with us. Entering the bar our bags were searched and the Fruit Shoots were not permitted, which meant that we had to buy everything from them at hideously inflated prices. Nice resorts, nice people, just a shame they insult you by overcharging because you are a captive customer. Its the same mentality as motorway fuel stations overcharging for fuel because you are again a captive customer.
Anybody seen my blood-pressure tablets anywhere?

Regards Rog.

If that statement is correct, then it has to be illegal.

Received an email from Park Resort today with offers from "£2.50" a night. Trawled through their very cumbersome offers pages, 14 of, and found not one. Have had similar offers in the past and not one materialised. Has anybody actually got one of these deals?
Have sent an inquiry to PR asking where the £2.50 is.

I wait with baited breath - not, as I doubt you will hear back from them.

When we have used them we have never stayed more than a couple of nights we use them as stop offs on route or coming back from somewhere as they are not my cup of tea as a holiday too loud to brash and too many kids. But great for breaking a journey out of season.

Loud and brash.

I have used Eyemouth several times and it certainly was not over run with children so it could be I have been lucky or others unlucky. As far as bar prices, they are extortionate and as the bar/clubhouse is at entrance to site its amusing to see the large number that just walk past down into Eyemouth for a reasonably priced drink, unfortunately those with children are captured

As long as it'd adults acting like children I'm there.:angel:

Tried again and applying discount code the nearest I got to £7 for Eyemouth was £13.50 and in the whole search never got a £2.50. Eyemouth showed one pitch available at the promotion code so why it did not show £7 ????? Never found a £2.50 anywhere but no doubt they will be subject to availability and sold out.

They must think we are gullible.

Sorry for the post, I didn't realise that you were all stuck in on one place and looking for top end facilities. I booked on the basis that I could sit out for a few days and do my own thing on site, including drink my own beer or wine as the case may be. I can tour around the area, walk along the beach and just generally relax, maybe have a swim in the heated pool. Wild camping is great but sometimes it's nice to enjoy a break on site. For those a little more adventurous when you search change the default results from default to price ascending and it lists cheapest sites first. Saves trawling through the expensive ones and being disappointed !

We went to Northumberland earlier in year and stayed at a Park Resort for a few nights, we were overlooking the beach, no one approached to buy or anything else, we walked around the site bought some stuff in the shop (groceries) which were a little bit more expensive than we usually pay but we expected this so were not surprised or disgusted. We enjoyed this. You get what you pay for. For families with small children they can do a reasonable holiday then staying in a hotel, which means they at least get a holiday. Many years ago we had two static caravans at Mablethorpe and we also let people pay in instalments as a way of saving for a holiday. I agree with the original poster - you have to trawel for good prices but it is worth it. Have a happy day
