Hi Madam has to go into Wessex Nuffield hospital at Chandlers ford in July.

I have to stay overnight nearby so does anyone know an obliging pub car park or decent overnight close by ?

Nothing on the sites POIs that I could find.

Thanks.

There is parking around the recreation park but have never overnighted so can only suggest it is worth a look if you are stuck

I have found two possibles within 3 miles and one is next to a Toby carvery, so things might be looking up.

The second one has a building that appears to be boarded up.

Any factual comments about either would be helpful.

Thanks.

The first one I see has notices which I can just about read indicating that it is an LPS car park - Local Parking Security Ltd. I think these are the charming people who dish out "excess charges" at supermarket car parks etc. Not nice people to tangle with. So I don't think that even a polite enquiry including buying a meal at the Toby carvery would necessarily help.

The second one (which is missing a "5" at the start of the map reference!) is right in the middle of a rather snobby residential area - Chandlers Ford residents don't like to think of themselves as being part of Eastleigh (which they are), and might make life difficult. Also as you are probably aware the Streetview image is quite old (2012) so it may have changed completely.

As far as the OU is concerned, although the Streetview image is more recent (2016) I do know that there has been a lot of development in that immediate area in the last couple of years. I don't live in the area any more otherwise I'd check for you.

There are a couple of lay-bys on either side of Allbrook Road (50.985555, -1.374089), just over the other side of the M3 from the Nuffield, which are used for stops by HGVs, no restrictions from 6pm to 8am according to the sign - but it's not going to be quiet!

I'm sorry I can't offer any better suggestions, I hope all goes well.

Might sound silly but I have done it ask the hospital if space available to park for one night explain why needed long way to travel and other half got appointment

Thank you for the replies, very helpful.

I will probably be free from 3.00 on the first day until 3.00 / 4 00 on the second so I will have plenty of time to nosy around the suggested sites.

A meal in the carvery is a definate though.

Dezi
