Anyone recommend a good spot to stay overnight before catching a morning ferry?

There is a large piece of land/ lay-by about 1/2 mile before the ferry port.
Although I have done it many times for work and they let you park up in lane ready for the morning ferry as long as it is after the last ferry has gone

You are 100% right, we pay way over the odds to get back and forth, hence we dont leave the island much these days.
