overnight stopover south of birmingham

Wondered if anyone knew of somewhere I could park up for the night somewhere south of Brimingham? Am on my way to the tunnel so it would need to be somewhere close to the motorway route. Setting off from Blackpool so ideally wanted somewhere half way. Many thanks for any replies.

go down to junc one m6 turn left at end of slip road go 1mile to roundabout turn right onto a5 loads of good laybys on a5 to join m1 later just follow local signs you are never more than 4 miles from m1.
