Overnight stop near Hamburg

The second half of the epic European adventure is happening in a week or two.
The truck is currently in storage in Mauberge in northern France.
We are going to Sjealand in Denmark. 730 miles.
So we'll stop overnight somewhere between Bremen and Hamburg. Is the plan.
I note the POI map doesn't cover Germany.

Is wild camping (in a camper van) an issue there? Any experience?
There seem to be plenty of 'Stellplatz' - but I'd rather be tucked away in a wood or something...
Or am I better pushing on to the Danish border?

Thanks in advance for any advice and ideas...

Last month I stayed overnight at a nice wooded car park on an island in the river Elbe at Geesthacht just east of Hamburg. N53.43154 E10.33545

In my experience it is generally fine to stay overnight in car parks etc in Germany so long as there are no unfriendly notices.

You can stay in Sittensen

We live in Sittensen, thats exactly between Bremen and Hamburg and there ist a Place for you to stay overnight next to an old mill in the center.
the address is "Muehlenstrasse, 27419 Sittensen.

Sittensen gets our vote lovely museum at the mill, a great walk of around 17 kilometres out around the fields and woods, just be aware I think the mill bridge is 3.5 ton and anything bigger you have to go around the village to get to the stellplatz

Another one for Sittensen, in the town but fairly quiet , handy for restaurants and shopping.
