HI,
My list of Pubs / Inns where you can stay overnight for the price of a meal, or drink is now about 100. The ones published below (58 ) are ones that I have used, collected from this & other sites, or by word of mouth. There are bound to be errors, perhaps locals could correct these and amend & resubmit. Thanks. Google map refs are approx. Remember that with x amount of pubs closing each week, what was OK yesterday, may not be OK tomorrow, always check first. Dezi

i seem to think i read on here that the green dragon in hardraw and the station at ribbleshead, both are fantastic places to stay, don't allow camping anymore, i can't find the threads now so hopefuly i'm wrong??

another one for the list is the strathmore arms in holwick, nr middleton-in-teesdale. the landlord is moving to spain next month but he assured us the new couple will allow camping too. :)

Hi, Well it seems to have had the effect that I had hoped for, updated information coming in. Incidently the other reason for doing it, is so that those without satnav can cut and paste list into word document, print it off & carry it with you along with trusty UK atlas.

Green Dragon Hardraw

Stayed there December 2008 while attending a party held at the pub. Got charged £30 for 2 nights with hookup. This was made up of £5 per person per night & £5 per night for the Campervan - WHAT DO THEY EXPECT YOU TO SLEEP IN? IT's NOT AN OPTIONAL EXTRA!!!! This was despite spending an absolute fortune on beer in the pub. £3.10 for a pint of Landlords!!

Only pub toilets as proposed toilet block not yet finished.

Even worse, friend stayed in a room for 2 nights as his heating was not working and they still wanted to charge £5 a night for the campervan which was on the carpark - not the campsite

Stay away - or camp next door at the very small but nice campsite.

Another for the Yorkshire Dales.

The Bridge Inn at Grinton just outside Reeth has a camping field opposite by the river (Ok its not actually theirs but you pay at the pub - a couple of quid pp p night).
No facilities as such apart from being a lovely spot! Public toilets over the road and the Bridge Inn is a cracker!!
We are weekending there in a couple of weeks so I can report more then.

The Redesdale Arms

The Redesdale Arms on the A68 near the Border allows overnighting if you have a drink and a meal.

Quote from their web site:

'Located a few short miles from the England/Scotland border just North of the junction of the A68 and A696 in the heart of the beautiful Rede Valley on the edge of Kielder Forest and in Hadrian’s wall country.

The Redesdale Arms known formerly as the ‘Last and First Inn’ in England before crossing the border has been welcoming guests en route to Edinburgh in the north and Newcastle in the South for centuries'

Has anyone actually composed a list of all the 'welcoming' pubs

Had a great weekend here last week. No hassle (we had four trucks there). Lovely big quiet sheltered field, £2 a night and a great pub. Recommended!!

It used to be £2 Monday to Friday then £2 Sat to Sun, but then it was just a field. Now I think it's gone upmatket with a new owner. The campsite next door is basic but the cheapest(?) in Hawes.

PS The waterfall at the rear was used in the Kevin Costner film "Robin Hood......" which was free to campers but a fee to the public.

Hi, Please remember to keep updating the list. As mentioned previously, we stopped at the Drift Inn, Seaton Burn last week and it was up for sale. NOT the landlords fault, the B***** brewery.Pubs seem to changing landlords faster than politicians change houses.
