Hi everyone.
We are now ready for our trip to scotland.
Hopscotch no 16 islay and arran.
On our way to see friends on siel island we are passing calander and i am hoping to stay overnight at loch venachar just past calander,on the map it shows parking and picnic areas.Has anyone stayed overnight here before.

Lots of NO OVERNIGHT PARKING signs around Loch Venacher.
nearby Loch Lubnaig has a great wee parking spot just at the south end of the Loch. It's below road level , So keep your eyes open for it.
Also, great overnight parking in Callender itself.
Main parking lot next to the river.
Easy walk to pubs , fish n' chips etc.

Just after you turn on to the A 821 from the A84 at Kilmahog go past the Lade Inn and there's a carpark on the right. Stayed here last year for a couple of nights with a variety of other vans. The Lade Inn does good food and also allows overnight parking in it's carpark if you're eating there.

hi
we've stayed in the main car park in Callender, its lovely and quiet, we tried the fish n chips but the ducks finished up with them, they were rank, may have been a bad night as it was minus 18 and not a sole around, nice pub, co op and toilets

enjoy

We were up there a month ago and intended to stay at Venacher, but there were groups of young lads fishing and camping there with fires burning and lots of lager being consumed. We opted for the Lubnaig parking area instead and it was ideal! We used the same spot on the outward and return legs of our trip. In my opinion it is a nicer spot with a better view.
Additionally, there are car parks on the left and right of the road just yards past the Lade Inn towards Venacher, where you can wildcamp and as mentioned you can overnight in the main Callender car park.
Enjoy your trip!

The spots at Lubnaig are great but at weekends and in good weather do attract the undesirables...the FC car park (Bocastle) just up from the Lade inn on your right is ok..if you are more adventurous try going to either of the car parks at loch achray...just follow signs for loch Katrine...these are great spots..and mostly quiet..I tend to use these a lot.

i used to spend my summers on Arran,we had an old cottage at Machrie,I loved the place.

The best chip shop in Britain . Must have gone to the wrong one.
Callander, Perthshire, UK to A84/Leny Rd - Google Maps)

Try a white pudding supper.

Hi Derek

it was the one just outside the carpark, we had drove up from sheffield, it was freezing cold, we were starving hungry so just chose the first eating hole we found, looking at your map, it was the wrong one, we will try the other one, thanks for that, up there in June, hopefully a tad warmer
