Traveling up to Wick in Scotland to pick a vehicle up with trailer. Can I park up over night in camper, towing a vehicle. 800 mile round trip is a long way without a sleep stop.
Can someone advise please
There are a couple of places marked on our map around Wick - I'd 'walk' down the road to them using Google maps Streetview to judge whether you could do it with a trailer. ordinarily, that part of Scotland is pretty easy to WC at - just not sure how people there may be at the minute with their lockdown. It may be best to wait a couple of weeks when they are open up a bit more?
If possible wait until 15 July when it’s likely many restrictions will be eased under stage 3. Currently up here we are restricted to a 5 mile distance for leisure, but unlimited for visiting family or friends. If you do decide to stop I would do so well away from towns or villages, some locals may none to pleased if you wild camp.
It’s nuts. I went down to Catterick two weeks ago. If I had been stopped all I had to say was I was meeting a friend. This is further confused when up here you can only travel five miles, but you can stay overnight. Whereas in England you have unlimited travel but cannot stay overnight. But it’s not being policed for that very reason. The chief constable stated that his officers will not be stopping vehicles to control travel.
I think that the 5 mile rule is to try to prevent large crowds heading for popular spots. It’s not been observed, hence the problems on main roads near Arrochar at weekends and crowds at Portobello. Having more than one set of rules within the UK has led to them being widely ignored especially when they are contradictory.
