Our first MOT

Our van is due for its MOT and this is the first time we have put a motorhome through the test.

Can someone tell me what we have to remove from the van, ie the TV is on an arm fixed to wall, does this need to be removed? Do you remove other items?

I would think the only check in the habitation area would be to any fitted seatbelts;), I stand to be corrected:)

Oh ,and Good Luck.

Don't think the TV will be a problem.
I just usually empty the bar of spirits,
& make sure the dope is well stashed.
but seriously, ......check all your lights are working,
& your ball joints are tight.

Thanks, done checks that a non mechanic can do and booked in for tomorow. FIngers legs and everything else crossed :)

good luck i think the only thing that they will check are the seat belts in the back if fitted nothing else will come into the test. in fact on a coach built or whatever you want to call them, the rear does not come into the test exept the mountings onto the chassis as long as there secure, this is what i was informed on my last m.o.t. the guy even said having a seperate chassis even the cab is not classed as structural as long as the suspension is not connected to the cab and on the seperate chassis as on my old bedford cf

Thanks for all the replies, I do have a small cheap wireless reversing camera. It's actually meant for cars and only covers a small area. I'm not sure if these have to cover a certain angle/area if fitted so may just remove the monitor as if not installed.

Any way off for test at lunch time.

Thanks again

And it passed.

If anyone is in the North Notts area and looking for a suitable test station then try Redfern Travel based in Mansfield Woodhouse, just £28.50 for class IV.

That is why I chose them, generally it's about £45-£50, the do also offer the free retest aswell. Its a shame they don't offer mechanical servicing.

yes i do admit they offer a free retest might just let it fail first just so i can get my monies worth :D on the second test. might fail first anyway
