ornimental rocks and shells

Hi all,
My wife lived overseas most of her life and far from the sea, and so when we camp she loves to look for specimens of rocks and shells and actually uses them as a medium on which to do oil painting. Was wondering if any have some locations for collecting such. Best area we have found is Loch Erribol and the top coast of Scotland around Bettyhill.

Hi samson,

I would have thought anywhere on the west coast after a bit of a storm. You may have to snorkel for them as its rare to pick good ones off the beach.
Have you thought of buying them of a site like Home décor | Wall art | Beach décor | Nautical home décor - buy the sea. They cost a few quid but you can get some amazing shells.

In my youth I used to indulge in lapidary,polishing stones Apart from Scotland one of my favourite locations was the NW of Anglesey. There are some wilding spots around there notably Near the former Aluminium works.
